What can be more joyful than celebrating your own countries cultures and festivals, staying in a different country?
Well, I already said, I am from India and currently residing in USA with my husband. It’s almost 10 months since I am living my life here and I am so delighted to see how our country’s festivals are celebrated here. Say it festivals like Diwali, Janmashtami, Makarsankranti, Navratra or National festivals like Independence Day, the different Indian communities celebrate it pleasingly. Not only festivals, our cultural forms of dancing and singing are also quiet populated here.
This blog is about a Dj party I got to attend last week in our Desi style. Hope you will love reading this.
Few days ago we attended a Bollywood Dj night. Yes, you heard this right Bollywood dj night here in USA. Before coming to this country I was actually upset with the thought that I am going to miss my college dj parties and friends, enjoying dancing in all bollywood and punjabi tracks. But I attended two bollywood dj parties with the same craziness and happiness till now.
About the DJ night
On 1st February, we went to attend the bollywood party in Plaza Maraiachi Music city (Live Music Venue) which got started with a live music by a beautiful singer Sharmishta Ganguly, who was singing our favourite hindi songs. The place was lovely surrounded by beautiful faces and it was so nice to see many Americans, dressed in indian attire and they were looking gorgeous.
Next was dance per formance by a dance group on the song ‘Pallo latke’ from the movie ‘Mere Shadi me jarur aana.’ The dancers also gave dance lessons on the same song and all ladies present there were following her.
The night also covered Tabla performance by a Tabla artist.
The next was DJ. We all know, one cannot stop themselves from dancing on bollywood tracks. So the hall was cheered up with footsteps when the DJ started. Dancing with our fellow americans in Indian tracks was something extraordinary. It was a memorable and crazy night.
It was fun for me and my friends and we ended the night by continuing the dance for almost 4 hours.
Thanks for reading my post. It was lovely sharing my experience with you all. Will write more about US life through my eyes.
